The railway station in Stresa is a great starting point from which to explore the surrounding area.
Trains run frequently into Milan Central Station (Milano Centrale) where you can explore the city or take connections to other parts of Italy and beyond. To the north, trains run to Domodossola in Italy and beyond to Geneva in Switzerland. We most frequently get asked for trains for a day trip into Milan so please find our timetables and fares sheet to download below.
At our travel office in Stresa you can buy any type of train ticket and make seat reservations for trains that offer that service. All our staff speak excellent English so you can be assured that your journey and tickets will be explained to you, and any questions about the Italian railway system answered.
Please note that every year in June and december there is an update of timetables and fares. The new timetables get loaded on the Trenitalia system very slowly and sometimes quite close to the changeover (often the fast trains are loaded first and the slow regional trains are loaded afterwards). Generally there are not big changes from one year to the next, so please do not worry if you are looking at timetables online and cannot find any trains for your date of travel.
