Lake Maggiore and the surrounding areas are famous for their villas and gardens. Stresa itself boasts the unique Borromean Islands with stunning gardens on both Isola Madre and Isola Bella and can be discovered on our islands tour for groups. However there are other gardens to be discovered!
Villa Taranto Garden is a treasure trove of exotic plants which, after the Springtime explosion of Camellias, Azaleas and Rhododendrons, provide a colourful display all year long. They also hold tulip weeks in April with over 20,000 bulbs.
The Alpine Gardens between Stresa and Mottarone offer an exceptional, panoramic viewpoint across Lake Maggiore and combined with a ride on the cable car to Mottarone you can see outstanding views of the Alps.
Further north in the Swiss part of the lake are the botanical gardens on the Brissago Islands and on a day tour to Lake Como there is the possibility to visit Villa Carlotta or the wonderful Villa Balbianello.
