iLake Maggiore Express Prices

The Centovalley Train or Lake Maggiore Express is actually a day's round trip by narrow gauge train and ferry.

Lake Maggiore Express, Centovalley RailwayYou depart Stresa on the normal train and travel as far as Domodossola where you change on to the quaint narrow gauge "Centovalley" train - one of Switzerland/Italy's most scenic journeys. The Lake Maggiore Express winds its way slowly up to reach the many bridges and viaducts that span the valleys. There are spectacular views from the train itself and you can even stop off for a short time in one of the many rustic villages that the train passes through.

The Centovalley Train takes you to Locarno which is in Switzerland at the northern tip of Lake Maggiore. You can choose to spend time in Locarno, but it is highly recommended to use your ticket to travel on to Ascona by ferry and spend your time exploring this pretty little artists town. You then catch the late afternoon ferry back to Stresa, relaxing on the outside deck as you cruise between the many lakeside towns.

Tickets & Timetables: You can purchase one ticket that covers the whole round trip by both normal train, Centovalley Train and ferry. These tickets are available at Tomassucci Travel where you can also talk with our English speaking staff about the trip and obtain a leaflet with the map of the route and exact timings. You can also contact us by email for timetables.

Prices: The cost of the full round trip 2008 is €30.00 for adults and €15.00 for children (4-12 years). A return journey on the "Centovalley" railway only, costs €21.00 for adults and €10.50 for children.
